College Curriculum

Since September 2007 we have had three Pathways and a 30 period week. Each lesson is 50 minutes. The Brunel Pathway caters for students who will achieve grades A*-C and who have the potential to continue into Higher Education. These students are fast tracked and early entered for some subjects.

The Hawking Pathway differs in that there is a vocational element in Years 10 and 11 and less fast tracking and early entry. The Pascal Pathway provides a curriculum designed to meet the needs of small groups of students who struggle to access and succeed in the more conventional curriculum.

In Years 7,8 and 9 we offer our students the full range of subjects including Drama. English, Maths and Science are timetabled at the same time so these key departments have the flexibility to group according to ability and need.

This year we have introduced Global Studies to our Pascal students. This covers the Humanities, Citizenship and aims to improve their Literacy. We have also increased our offer of Languages to include Mandarin and Spanish to some classes.

In Years 10 and 11 students continue with the core subjects [English, Maths, Science, Technology, PSHE and PE] but they have a choice of option subjects and Hawking students have a choice of vocational BTECs or ICT.

This year the Pascal students are studying a new Workskills course and the Princes Trust X1 Programme.
