The Mission of Technology Colleges
The mission of the 581 Technology Colleges is to promote an educational culture that is scientific,
technological, vocational and international.
In addition to teaching the broad foundations of the
National Curriculum, Technology Colleges specialise
in mathematics, science and technology.
They seek to ensure that young people are well-educated and technologically skilled, ready and able to progress into employment, further training or higher education according to their individual abilities, aptitudes and ambitions.
They add to the richness and diversity of secondary school provision acting as a resource for neighbouring schools and the local community. They work closely in partnership with the business sector.
Technology Colleges are formed from existing maintained schools for pupils aged 11 to 16 or 11 to 19.
