Heads Up

Mrs A Malcolm - HeadteacherWednesday 11th January 2012

The Spring Term is always one of the busiest at Manor College with a particular focus upon achievement and progress. Between now and Easter, all pupils will receive another report which will show progression against academic
targets and a judgement upon effort and behaviour.

I would ask that in order to support your child and ensure that they achieve their personal best; all parents and carers discuss the last College report (issued in October) and ensure that pupils are focused upon improvement and progression.

Over the next week pupils in Years 7-10 will be receiving a planner to assist them in planning homework and reflecting upon their learning. Assemblies and tutor time will be focused upon planning learning and positive behaviour for learning. We are encouraging pupils to take a more proactive role in their own learning and as such will be reinforcing that:

• pupils arrive punctually to lessons with the correct equipment (planner, pen, pencil, classbook)

• pupils follow classroom expectations

• pupils treat each other and all adults in the College with respect

• pupils follow staff instructions

• pupils actively participate in all lessons

• pupils are willing to learn from their mistakes and take risks in their learning

• pupils remain on task during a lesson with a focus upon progression.

Pupils in Year 11 will be receiving an additional lesson in place of PSHE called ASPIRE. ASPIRE lessons will focus upon preparing pupils for their Year 11 exams and ensuring that they are equipped and prepared independent learners.

Your child’s progress is our core business and we want to do everything that we can to ensure that your son or daughter achieves their very best. If you do have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact the relevant Year Leader in the first instance.
