Year 10 information

Pupils have started their GCSE courses in all subjects now and so the intensity of work will increase in school and for some pupils this can take a period of adjustment. Contact us if your child is showing signs of worry.
Some subjects will require COURSEWORK which can be taken home, others involve CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS, which are prepared for over a series of lessons and homeworks and then completed in class under exam conditions.

These are an ESSENTIAL part of the course and pupils who miss them or fail to prepare adequately due to absence or indifference will see their results seriously affected.

Many of the courses have modular exams which take place in Y10 during January and March. Preparation for these takes place in December and February. For these reasons FULL ATTENDANCE IS VITAL. Please do not book family holidays or make appointments during school time unless absolutely unavoidable.

Contact college to check dates in case your child is likely to miss important assessments.

Most students have started their new courses very well and few are on our STEP discipline system.

Over the next few months we will be turning our thoughts towards selecting prefects, our Head Boy, Head Girl and their Deputies. Pupils will be involved in drawing up a list of the desirable qualities for these roles and formal applications will be made for senior roles.

THERE WILL BE A PREFECT RESIDENTIAL CAMP TOWARDS THE END OF TERM 1 (JUNE/JULY), SO START SAVING!

We will go through a similar process for the 2013 PROM and only those pupils who complete their passport to the PROM will be eligible for an invite.
